Welcome to the 2026-2027 MRE Drama Season! We are pumped to get started. Here is everything you need to know about Auditions:
Each interested student will sign up for one 5 minute slot on September 8th or 9th. Sign-ups will open immediately after the MANDATORY parent meeting being held on September 3rd at 6:30 in the MRE Cafeteria.
At this 5 minute audition, students will sing, dance, and perform a portion of the script. To prepare for this, each kiddo will choose a character for which they would like to audition. They will prepare the lines associated with that character, learn their song (all songs are posted on our MUSIC page), and be prepared to perform the dance learned at the second drama class. If your student was unable to attend the second class, or they just need some assistance practicing the dance, it is also posted on the website.
Below you will find all of the materials/information for auditions. To recap, here are the steps:
Have your student choose which High School Musical 2 character they'd like to audition for (this can be ensemble if they aren't interested in a leading role).
Look below and find the lines for that character (a couple have more than one option). They are to learn those lines (only for that character, one of the judges will read the other characters' lines). We highly suggest having them memorized for the audition, especially if your student is wanting a lead role.
Look below to see what song that character is to sing for auditions, paying attention to the time specified. Go to the MUSIC page and find that song, practicing with the "practice track" until it is comfortable, then switching to the "performance track" aka karaoke track. That is how you will perform it at auditions.
Have the dance prepared for auditions. If you need to learn it or need assistance, the video will be available on our NEWS AND UPDATES page.
Attend the parent meeting on September 3rd at 6:30 in the MRE Cafeteria (door 4).
Sign-up for an audition time slot.
Attend auditions on either September 8th or 9th, bringing the permission slip and t-shirt money with you.
Watch for cast list posting on the website on September 11th.
PLEASE NOTE: All students who audition WILL be in the show. No cuts will be made.
All of the scripts are below, named after the characters.
